Cello Masterclass
Cello Day has been extended across the weekend this year to include a public masterclass by visiting Hungarian cellist Balász Dolfin.

Hungarian cellist Balázs Dolfin is coming to New Zealand with pianist Tony Chen Lin for an extensive nationwide tour, performing concerts and giving masterclasses as the Dolfin–Lin Duo.
An internationally active soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician, Balázs has performed throughout Europe and the United States. A prizewinner at several international competitions, he has also been a member of both the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne.
Based in Munich, Balázs has studied with some of Europe’s most distinguished cello professors, including László Mező, Gustav Rivinius, Wen-Sinn Yang, and Steven Isserlis. He has also worked closely with internationally renowned musicians such as, the Kuss Quartet, the Ébène Quartet, Alban Berg Quartett and Péter Nagy.
He is currently pursuing his doctoral and advanced performance studies in the prestigious Excellence in Performance programme at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Prof. Julian Steckel.
Alongside his performing career, Balázs is becoming increasingly active in music education, regularly giving masterclasses across Europe and working with the next generation of young musicians.
The entry fee for this public class is $10 (free for Cello Day participants).
